Bernard Langer-born 1957 He is a two-time Masters champion and was one of the world's leading golfers throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1986, he became the sport's first number-one ranked player following the creation of the Sony Ranking (now the Official World Golf Ranking).
The swing of Bernard Langer has changed very little over the years. This film shows how Langer has retained the same athletic set-up posture and routine as when he first appeared on the tour 45 years ago.

He still has a 'stronger grip' tendency and starts away with his body trunk turning freely while at the same time allowing his arms to swing naturally. At the top, he kept his arms wide and allowed his wrists to bend upwards without any conscious adjustment, just like today.
On the forward swing, some adjustments have been influenced by age and teaching developments.

In this swing sequence, we see how Langer used a more in-to-out path which played a part in why his body 'lagged' a little behind the arms after the ball contact.
Having watched Langer several times throughout his career I cannot remember the ball flights on his shots ever deviating much away from a gentle fade, even when he made those adjustments in later years. This only confirms the excellent timing he brought with him on the Tour, and still possesses.
