Nicknamed "El Gato" (The Cat) Eduardo Romero won 80 tour events around the world. He died at the young age of 67.
Born in 1954 in Cordoba, Argentina he won eight times on the European Tour and five on the Champions Tour.
He was also a member of the Argentine team at the World Cup on 14 occasions.
Romero turned professional in 1982
He reached the top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
In 2002 he became the third-oldest winner on the European Tour (behind Des Smythe and Niel Coles) when he won the Scottish Open just three days before his 48th birthday.

After 43 wins in Argentina, more than 10 in South America, and as many in Europe and the United States, the Cat decided to leave the sport to dedicatehimself to public service. He was elected mayor of Villa Allende in 2015.
Eduardo Romero suffered from various illnesses that had repeated themselves throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his good humor, generosity, and strength of character.
What I will always remember about the Romero swing was his wonderful continuation to the finish. He took the energy to the very last gasp and ignored any temptation to hit at the ball.
